About Blue Skies
Built to reach the people who need us most
We started as a telehealth practice because access to well-trained care shouldn’t depend on your zip code. That idea hasn’t changed — it’s just grown into a full team.
Why we built a telehealth-only practice
Blue Skies began when our founder relocated from Nevada to Oregon and didn’t want to leave behind the clients and partners built over years of practice. Rather than start over from scratch, the practice went fully telehealth — a decision made not out of convenience, but out of a simple belief: people deserve access to highly trained care no matter where they live.
That question — what happens to people in rural areas who don’t have easy access to specialists? — is still central to how we operate today. But we also know that distance isn’t the only barrier to care. Busy schedules, parenting responsibilities, demanding careers, health concerns, transportation challenges, and other life circumstances can all make in-person therapy difficult. We built Blue Skies so that whether you live in a rural Oregon community or simply need the flexibility of telehealth, getting high-quality psychological care is within reach.

The relocation that started it all — and the reason Blue Skies exists as a telehealth practice today.
We built a team of doctoral-level Psychologists
Most outpatient psychologists today practice solo. We built something different: a full team, every one of them a doctoral-level psychologist rather than a mix of provider types.
That distinction matters more than it might seem. Becoming a psychologist means completing a doctorate program, a full-time year-long clinical internship, and an additional year of supervised residency — the most extensive training path available in the field. It also means a stronger emphasis on research: the approaches you'll work through with us are grounded in what's actually been shown to help, not just what feels supportive in the moment.
Our collaborative model has also made Blue Skies a sought-after training site for doctoral psychology residents completing their supervised clinical training before licensure.
We also don’t work in isolation. Our team meets and collaborates regularly — six colleagues to think alongside, not just a caseload to manage alone.
An Oregon practice through and through
It’s a fair question: if there’s no physical office, is this really a local practice? Yes. We’re based in Bend, staffed by Oregon-based providers, and genuinely invested in the communities we serve — Central Oregon, the Willamette Valley, and residents across the state.
Telehealth isn’t a lesser version of in-person care, either. Research consistently shows the two are equally effective for most concerns — this is simply a better way to reach the people who need us, wherever they happen to live.

A few things we want you to know going in
Coming to therapy is a sign of strength, not weakness. You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit from it.
Most of our work isn’t painful. There are hard sessions, but most of our time is spent growing rather than sitting with difficulty.
You don’t need the “right” reason. Whether it’s anxiety, a relationship struggle, a major life change, or something you can’t quite name yet — that’s enough.
We take our work seriously, and each other too. We’re a small, connected team that talks about the work — not a directory of strangers who happen to share a website.
